Community shoutouts are a key part of Tech4Good South West events. This is our online hub for shoutouts in the South West region.

Latest Shoutouts

Centre for Thriving Places (previously known as Happy City) is a small charity based in Bristol. They host several websites and applications, including digital wellbeing tools – Thriving Places Index and the Happiness Pulse.

Centre for Thriving Places is looking to ensure their sites and applications are currently up to the latest accessibility standards. Any advice and support regarding accessibility audits would be appreciated. Get in touch with Laura Steele, Project Manager:

The StoryTale Festival is a children’s books festival that takes place throughout Bristol. Due to Covid, StoryTale has had to cancel this year. StoryTale would like some support and guidance around delivering a large scale event online, and to compare notes with any organisation’s that have planned one in the last few months.

DigiLocal has been hosting evening virtual coding clubs for young people since Covid lock-down, but have moved everything online. They have also deployed laptops onto long-term loan for families that don’t have access at home. 

DigiLocal are looking for virtual volunteers to support young people in the region. There is also a call out for laptops / WiFi dongles / funding to support families.

RIO are transforming the Market Hall in Devonport, Plymouth into a Virtual Reality dome and are interested in creatives and technologists involved in ‘tech for good’ that has a VR or immersive element to it to either try it out or help shape the dome’s future.
